On 2nd November I was back at one of my favourite venues Deer Park Country House for the wedding of a truly dynamic duo Emily and Andy. Rarely have I met such a sporty, driven and ambitious couple. They were quite a tour de force. Supremely organised and a joy to work with.

Rich’s proposal to Kate definitely has been one of the best I have encountered so far. With their shared love of the great outdoors, wildlife and nature – Dartmoor was an obvious location.

At the end of July last year, I was lucky enough to conduct a wedding ceremony for Charlotte and Chris in Sidbury in East Devon, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Her parents’ farm looks straight down the Sid Valley to the sea and that was the chosen venue for their wedding.

I have three outstanding memories of the day when the lovely Dan and Kirstie were married at Deer Park Country House.Firstly, the weather. It really was the filthiest day weather-wise. Dear Dan couldn’t really hide his disappointment. After all it had been the most incredible summer and 22nd September was one of the few Saturdays when it had decided to really chuck it down.

I think it’s fair to say that your wedding day is high up on the momentous life events list. It therefore completely baffles me that most couples, who choose a civil ceremony, are happy for this huge occasion to be officiated by a total stranger.

Are you thinking of getting married in a faraway exotic location but don’t want to use the venue’s prescriptive script? Or perhaps you have a friend or family member you would love to present your wedding ceremony here at home but don’t want to give them the added pressure of writing the script? In either of these situations you may be interested to hear that I offer a script only service.

Over the years I have collected quite a selection of inspirational music. Some well-known ones but also some slightly more obscure pieces. Being a music fan, I particularly like lyrics to songs and find incorporating them into your wedding ceremony, either as part of your vows or as a reading or musical interlude, the perfect way to say something beautiful if you are struggling to find the words yourself.
